Come to Hubertusjagt on a whim with The Green Museum and Gammel Estrup Denmark's Manor House Museum.
On November 12th, we will be holding a fun Hubertus Hunt on fancy horses for the museums' youngest guests. You can bring your own fancy horse and try out a set-up course in the courtyard, and if you don't have a fancy horse, you can borrow one from the museums (limited number).
Along the way, the museums' skilled presenters are ready to tell you about hunting history and horse keeping through time, and you can subsequently join a special hunting history tour inside the Green Museum.
Program
At 11:00 the Kæpheste track opens.
12:30 p.m.: Announcement of the winner of the Hubertus Hunt and awarding of diplomas to all participating children.
At 1:00 PM and 1:30 PM: The Green Museum's presenter talks about parforce hunting – the precursor to the Hubertus hunt.
At 1:00 PM and 1:30 PM: Gammel Estrup's guide shows you around the castle and tells you about how a lord and a count had horses, and how the horses were part of both everyday life and hunting at the manor.
Practical
All children under 18 enter for free, and each child can bring one adult in for free on this day (other adults pay 110 DKK per person).
The ticket gives access to both the Green Museum and our neighboring museum Gammel Estrup Denmark's Manor Museum.
In odd years, the Jysk Jagtrideklub holds a real Hubertus hunt with real horses and hunters at the Green Museum and Gammel Estrup.
