Summer vacation for all senses at The Green Museum
During the summer holidays, you can experience a museum at The Green Museum that plays with all our senses. There is the opportunity to see, taste, feel, hear and smell the story of how we have shaped our domestic animals.
The museum will offer activities and experiences for the whole family. Both in the new indoor exhibitions, but also in the fantastic outdoor nature with plants and animals. And in both places there is ample opportunity to just walk around and enjoy and sense at your own pace.
Come and hear a very tame story...

Children enjoy the summer at The Green Museum while on an outdoor stand-up comedy tour with audio narration.
How and why did the wild boar become a bacon pig, the aurochs became dairy cattle and the wolf became man's best friend? Join us on a journey through the shared wild history of man – and animals – at The Green Museum during the summer holidays.
Humans have hunted wild animals to survive since the dawn of time. But climate change, fewer animals, and the need for security gradually led to new ways of living – wild plants and animals were domesticated, and humans began to settle down instead of wandering after the animals. The genetic traits humans found most useful were eventually bred into the domesticated animals and crops we know today.
The wild history is long, and during the summer holidays you can experience it on a stand-up tour through audio stories about the wild past of farm animals – where you can end by making your very own leather purse filled with the ancient farmer's grain.
Along the way, you can also answer a quiz, and there will be at least one tasting during the tour.
Children under 18 always have free admission to the museum, the stand tour with the tame history and activity materials can be purchased for 40 kroner per person. But of course there are also interesting summer holiday activities that cost nothing once the entrance fee for adults has been paid.
Both outdoor and indoor Museum
Regardless of whether the weather invites indoor or outdoor activities, The Green Museum has a lot of exciting things to show off.
Because in addition to 6000 m2 of indoor exhibitions and experiences, there are also 7 hectares of outdoor experiences. Visit, for example, our 6000 m2 historic kitchen garden with, among other things, over 80 different types of rhubarb. But also our organic farm and livestock are a really wonderful summer holiday experience for the family. And every single day during the summer holidays there will be the opportunity to experience the museum's rabbits, pigs and chickens being fed at selected times.
There are also free experiences indoors. Because in The museum's newest exhibition 'Gold Grain' you can try to create your own barley variety; while in the exhibition 'BIG' You can sit quietly for a while and immerse yourself in the forest while drawing your own aurochs.
These special sensory experiences and summer vacation activities can be experienced at the Green Museum throughout the summer holidays – from June 25th until August 7th.
The museum is open every day from 10 am to 5 pm.
