Living Saturday at the Green Museum: A day full of experiences

Working in the forge

The volunteers are always a popular experience – here you can see the work in the forge.

On selected Saturdays, The Green Museum transforms into a vibrant center for activities and tasting experiences. 'Living Saturday' is an initiative created by the museum, where volunteer groups invite visitors to delve into Denmark's hunting, forestry, agricultural and food history in a whole new way. The next time is Saturday, October 7.

One of the many initiatives is the Polakhusgruppen, which welcomes visitors for a pleasant chat and a cup of substitute coffee in the Polakhuset. Here you can experience an important part of Danish history and get a sense of what substitute coffee tasted like in the old days.

For those interested in technology, the Tractor Workshop is a must-visit. Visitors have the opportunity to talk to the mechanics and learn about the ancient tractors that have been the cornerstone of Danish agriculture for decades.

The Blacksmiths' Guild is a true mecca for those who love craftsmanship. Here you can talk to the blacksmiths in the Forge and gain insight into the noble art of blacksmithing, which is still practiced with pride.

The Visitor Magazine hosts are always ready to share fascinating stories about the museum's exhibitions and collections. They are dedicated to making your visit as educational and memorable as possible.

Historisk Værksted is home to several exciting groups. The Beekeepers' Guild makes frames, casts wax and sells locally produced honey. The Butchers' Guild pampers the taste buds with smoked game sausage, while the Food Guild offers tastings of delicious Amager soup.

In the exhibition Stort you can experience the Bow Guild, which demonstrates the art of making arrows and strings. The Forest Guild provides insight into the world of the forest worker and shares knowledge about nature's treasures.

The garden is an oasis of peace and beauty. Food historian Bettina Buhl is ready to give introductions at 11:00, 12:30 and 14:00, where visitors can hear a lot of exciting stories in the garden. The introduction starts in the museum shop. Remember that the shop is also the perfect place to buy something hot to drink or a souvenir afterwards, so you have a lasting memory of the day.

Best of all, all activities and tastings are free when the museum entrance fee is paid. The Green Museum wants to create an inclusive experience for everyone, where you can explore Danish cultural heritage in a fun and interactive way.

So mark your calendar and experience a vibrant Saturday at The Green Museum, where history is brought to life through exciting activities, tastings and passionate volunteers who are passionate about sharing their knowledge and love for Denmark's unique cultural heritage.
