A journey through the evolution of farm animals

The farm animals are always popular during the summer holidays at The Green Museum.
Throughout the summer, the focus is on our farm animals and not least their development over the last 70 years. The Green Museum is ready to welcome summer holiday guests to exciting activities and learning.
The Green Museum welcomes you to a summer filled with exciting activities and learning for the whole family. From June 29 to August 11, the museum invites guests to explore the development of farm animals from the 1960s to today through a series of fun and educational activities.
Become an expert in farm animals
During the summer holidays, guests can delve into the fascinating world of farm animals and learn about their development over the past 60 years. The activity tour includes tasks such as chicken puzzles, pig tetris and milk lifts. Once the tasks are completed, participants can enter a competition with the chance to win a prize and receive a diploma as proof of their new knowledge of farm animals.
Taste and Create
Guests will also have the opportunity to taste Byggryns Muffins, baked to a recipe from 1919. However, barley is not used much in recipes in Denmark, as approximately 85% of our barley production goes to feed farm animals. In addition, guests can create their own farm animal in self-hardening clay in the museum's sculptor's workshop. One of the museum's skilled communicators will be present to discuss the development of agriculture and farm animals while guests work with the clay.
Meet the museum volunteers
On many days during the summer, the museum's dedicated volunteers will be ready to welcome visitors. The volunteers are happy to share their extensive knowledge within the field in which they have special knowledge. Visitors can experience demonstration workshops where the volunteers show old crafts and tell stories from a bygone era. This creates a vivid and authentic experience that provides a unique insight into Denmark's cultural history. Read more about the volunteers here.
The director's summer greetings
Anne Bjerrekær, director of The Green Museum, says: "We are incredibly looking forward to the summer and to giving many guests a wonderful all-day experience here at the site. And when the museum's live animals on our large agricultural area are combined with many family activities, visitors also take home knowledge from here that can be used in everyday life."
Practical information
The activity tour and the sculptor's workshop require a small user fee of 20 kroner. Admission to the museum is 140 kroner for adults, while children and young people under 18 have free admission. The museum is open every day from 10:00 to 17:00 during the summer holidays.
Experience the Green Museum
In addition to the summer activities, the museum offers 6,000 square meters of exhibitions, a 6,000 square meter historical vegetable garden, apple orchard, farm animals and a 60-hectare organic farm. Visitors can enjoy a wide range of experiences, making the museum an ideal destination for a family day out. See what's happening during the summer holidays here.
