Knots without ends symbolize life with its eternal change. The magical number 3, shown here in the knot design, was significant to both the Vikings (Asgard, Midgard and Utgard) and Christians (Father, Son and Holy Spirit). It facilitated the transition to Christianity.

Jutland/DK.
