Experience the European Championships in Djursland
Østjysk Køre Selskab and Det Grønne Museum invite you to a weekend filled with excitement, raw strength, precision and elegance, where horsepower and the horse as a working animal throughout history and sport are at the center.
June 8th and 9th will be a celebration for everyone who admires the collaboration between man and horse, when Østjysk Køre Selskab presents both the Danish and European Championships in timber driving.
This event is not just a competition; it is a celebration of the deep connection between jockeys and their horses, a showcase of skill, tradition and sportsmanship.
Along with the competitions, The Green Museum has created a particularly exciting program for guests, who can both take a tour and test their own horsepower.
Competitions that connect the past with the present
We are proud to present a program that ranges from timber driving, where precision and cooperation between horse and driver are paramount, to traditional driving, which cherishes historical carriage types and driving styles. Top driving offers a more dynamic and self-driven challenge, where drivers and horses work together to navigate a course of cones - all to win the coveted rosé.
Meet the elite in timber transportation
The upcoming weekend will be a showcase for some of the best in various disciplines of horse driving. With participants from Denmark, Norway, Germany, the Czech Republic and Switzerland, this is a unique opportunity to experience international competition up close. Among the highlights are the defending European Timber Driving Champion from the Czech Republic, top-ranked German jockeys, and the Danish elite, all ready to demonstrate their skills and cooperation with their horses.
The museum's offerings during the weekend festivities
In addition to the exciting competitions, the Green Museum offers a number of activities that give all ages the opportunity to get involved and learn more about the role of the horse as a means of traction through the ages. Guests can also look forward to fun and educational experiences, such as “Pulling like a horse” and “Throwing horseshoes”, which will take place in the museum’s outdoor area throughout the event. The museum offers short tours of the visitor magazine, where museum curator Helle Serup will talk about selected horse-drawn vehicles and tools from the museum’s extensive collection. The tours take place on Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. In addition, there is of course access to all of the museum’s exhibitions and the beautiful outdoor areas.
Safety and respect for the horses
At the heart of this event are the horses, our noble partners who deserve the utmost respect and care. We ask all visitors to approach the horses with caution and only with permission from the driver, to ensure a safe experience for everyone – both two-legged and four-legged.
We look forward to welcoming you to a weekend where horsepower, precision and tradition go hand in hand. Get ready to be captivated, enriched and maybe even a little surprised. Welcome to a thrilling weekend at The Green Museum!
This weekend, ticket sales will open at 8:00 a.m. So from the start of the event, you can buy tickets that are valid for both the European Championship/World Championship and both museums. Please note that you must have a valid ticket to attend the event.
