Easter holiday with farm animals, crafts and spring

Felted Easter eggs made of wool – one of the Easter holiday activities for the whole family at The Green Museum

During the Easter holidays, the Green Museum invites the whole family to animal experiences, Easter fun and activities with farm animals at the centre. Here, children and adults can meet lambs, kids and sheep, felt an Easter egg out of wool – and join the stable when the animals are fed.

At the Green Museum on Djursland there is plenty of life during the Easter holidays (28 March to 6 April). The focus is on farm animals – their young, breeds and the role they play in rural life, past and present. And as a sure hit with the youngest, you can also visit the popular chickens in “Lysningen”.

Easter activities with games, felt and competition
During the Easter holidays, guests can go on an activity tour with tasks and competitions, where the children get to use both their bodies and minds. Along the way, you can try walking on stilts, go hunting for “lost” lambs and sheep in the grain bin and felt your own Easter egg with wool from the museum’s sheep. The activity tour ends with the opportunity to participate in the competition for a prize from the museum shop.

While the children filter, the museum's facilitators are ready to talk about sheep breeds, wool and everything that wool can be used for - both in the past and today.

Join us on a feeding tour – every day at 11 am.
A special highlight of the Easter holiday is the daily feeding tour with the facilitator. The tour takes place every day at 11:00 and lasts approximately 30 minutes. Here you go to the stable, experience the animals during feeding and get a lively introduction to the museum's breeds - and to the importance of livestock in Danish agricultural history.

Taste of Easter – chickens or “føns”?
Easter at the museum is not only about seeing and doing, but also about tasting. During the Easter holiday, guests can try a tasting where plant protein plays the main role in a well-known classic. The museum's facilitators have been working with plant protein in the kitchen, and during Easter we are offering tastings of, among other things, “fønsesalad” – a vegetarian version of chicken salad.

For the whole family
The activities are set up so you can participate at your own pace. Some go for the felt and competition, others for the animals, the chickens in the clearing and the feeding tour – and most end up with a bit of everything.
