One billion trees – plant your own memory during the winter holidays

Plant a memory during the winter holidays at The Green Museum.

During the winter holidays, the Green Museum invites you to experiences focusing on forests, climate and the future.

In Denmark, we have made a significant decision: Over the next 20 years, one billion trees will be planted. The goal is more forest, more nature, cleaner drinking water and greater biodiversity – and at the same time an important effort to store CO₂.

During the winter holidays from 7 to 15 February, families with children and grandparents with children can get up close to that very story at the Green Museum. Here, the great national ambitions are translated into concrete experiences at children's level – and into a small acorn.

Sow your own acorns – for free

In the museum exhibition BIG Guests can experience a free, indoor forest trip, where both children and adults learn about the life of trees and the role of forests in the Danish landscape – past, present and future. Along the way, you can test your knowledge in the forest quiz and play to gain new insight into how much space the forest actually takes up in Denmark.

To conclude, everyone can plant an acorn to take home. From here, the family's own oak tree can continue to grow – perhaps for the rest of its life.

Forest experiences for everyone – even the brave ones

For those who want to experience the forest from above, the climbing column in the exhibition is open most of the winter holidays for a fee. Here, children and adults can try their hand at working as a specialized forest worker and get a physical experience of the forest's heights.

On selected days, the winter holidays can also taste something. At Madens Hus, children can make their own little pancakes and have a simple, sensory experience with raw materials and crafts.

The winter break at the Green Museum is intended as a common meeting place for generations – with time for play, learning and conversations about the nature that we have both inherited and must pass on.
