The Green Museum's Danish History

Director Anne Bjerrekær shows Madens Hus to the architects who will be bidding on the new exhibition - The Green Museum's Danish History

There was time for a stop at Madens Hus, where director Anne Bjerrekær shows the historical development over the last few hundred years within, for example, food.

At The Green Museum, we are embarking on an exciting new phase in the development of our upcoming exhibition (The Green Museum's History of Denmark), which will tell the history of Denmark in a completely new way – with a focus on hunting, forests, agriculture and food.

The aim of this exhibition is to create a comprehensive exhibition that sheds light on the history of Denmark from 1950 to the present. The exhibition will take the viewer on a fascinating journey through the history of hunting, forestry, agriculture and food in Denmark – gathered in a large, living and interactive narrative.

This ambitious exhibition project is now entering its next phase. We have now selected five renowned architects to prepare proposals for the exhibition and bid for its construction.

These five are:
Event Communications, UK
Kvorning Design & Communication, DK
JAC studios / Heijmerink Wagemakers, DK/NL
No Parking, DK
Yoke, DK

With their expertise in communicating stories through innovative exhibition designs, these five companies have already proven themselves as valuable contributors to the world of museums. Their experience in creating engaging and interactive exhibitions means that we can expect five ideas for the upcoming exhibition of extremely high quality.

First meeting

Today, The Green Museum meets with these five companies for the first time to present the physical setting and some of the objects that will form the basis for The Green Museum's history of Denmark.

This meeting marks the beginning of an exciting collaboration where experts in exhibition design, cultural communication and storytelling will work together to create a remarkable exhibition.

Over the next two months, the five selected companies will work intensively to develop their offerings and concept proposals for the exhibition. Each company is likely to bring their unique approach and ideas to the table, and The Green Museum can expect to see a wide range of creativity and innovation.

Opening in 2025

The exhibition, scheduled to open in 2025, has the potential to be an important cultural and historical contribution to Denmark. It will not only allow visitors to immerse themselves in the country’s history from the post-war period to the present day, but will also explain why we are where we are today – and perhaps even give visitors some thoughts and ideas about where we are headed.

As Denmark's national museum responsible for hunting, forestry, agriculture and food, it is an exciting time for The Green Museum, and we look forward to creating an inspiring exhibition that tells the history of Denmark in a completely new way.
