Once again this year, Den Gamle Stald and Det Grønne Museum are joining forces to create some truly unique lunch events where both taste buds and brains are stimulated.
Sink your teeth into history with The Green Museum's food historian Bettina Buhl and restaurateur Kim Thygesen from Den Gamle Stald.
Meatless Tuesdays – lunch with a taste of good history
"Meat-free Tuesdays" were a fixed tradition in many Danish homes during the occupation, where it was often not possible to have meat on the table. This led to meat portions being stretched, or meat had to be completely avoided. For many families, Tuesday therefore became the meat-free day, which required great creativity with vegetables and herbs from the lady of the house.
Now you have a unique opportunity to participate in one or more meat-free Tuesdays at The Green Museum. Food historian and museum curator Bettina Buhl has selected four themes, where Danish herbs, vegetables, fruits and berries, which have been used for generations, get a well-deserved starring role. The chefs at Den Gamle Stald will interpret and present delicious and creative dishes over two servings – completely without the use of meat.
The lunch begins with a 20-minute presentation by Bettina, where she talks about the day's theme, the season and the context during the occupation. Several of the ingredients are harvested in the Green Museum's garden, where we preserve old cultural and useful plants.
The price is only 245,- + drinks, and you can buy tickets for the events here
