TEACHING AT THE GREEN MUSEUM

Plan your next school trip to Jutland and take a trip to the Green Museum in Auning.

Here, students can get a unique, hands-on experience with education covering themes such as hunting, forestry, agriculture and food. The museum offers exciting educational courses that combine theory and practice in a lively and engaging way. Through interactive exhibitions and fun activities, students can learn about Denmark's cultural heritage and gain insight into how these themes have developed over time.

We offer a wide range of educational courses that cover a lot of different topics, subject areas and activities that give students the opportunity to learn in an exciting and different way. Specific grade levels have been written under the different educational courses, as the courses are designed with them in mind - but there is the possibility of organizing them in close dialogue with teachers and educators, so that the class excursion is arranged in relation to an adjusted level, academic focus and other special considerations.

The education department is happy to receive school classes before the museum's opening hours at 10 am.

The Green Museum can also be a useful partner for classes or groups that work project-oriented or according to the storyline method.

Example of teaching process

An example of a teaching course could be what we have called "winter food", which deals with the farmer's winter supply of food, how it should be stretched until the next harvest, and their creativity in the kitchen.

Here, there will be an opportunity for a dialogue-based tour of the museum's exhibitions. For example, there will be a focus on the tasks that would occur in the self-sufficient peasant home during the cold months, and how frugality and ingenuity were paramount.

The teaching will then move into the kitchen, where the students will prepare different dishes based on old Danish recipes in small groups. The knowledge from the tour and the stories up to this point will give them the opportunity to use what they have seen and heard in practice. The lesson will end with the students presenting their dishes to the rest of the class, and eating together.

We have many different activities covering different topics that provide. There is the possibility that you can read more about our other courses here, and to get inspiration for your next school trip to Jutland!
