What did Christmas look like about 200 years ago?<\/p><\/div>\n

December is just around the corner and the calendar can tell us that it's time to find the Christmas spirit, the inner elf, the Christmas music and the coziness from hiding - along with the big boxes of Christmas decorations. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Here at The Green Museum we are ready, and have found both the Christmas spirit and our inner elf... and a lot of other exciting things for our guests!<\/p>\n

And we would really like to help you all get into the Christmas spirit \u2013 when you visit us in December.<\/p>\n

Therefore, the coming month will offer the opportunity for our pop-up exhibition about 300 years of Christmas history. Christmas from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries is told on ornate tableaus.<\/p>\n

These three tableaus also form part of our digital Christmas tour 'Alltiders Jul', where they are supplemented with the stories about the Christmas tree, the Christmas cabbage and the animals (and elves) in the barn.<\/p>\n

In addition, we have also decorated the museum with a lot of cozy, historical and traditional Christmas decorations.<\/p>\n

On the weekends, we've made sure that everything gets a little boost in the Christmas spirit. Because there, our guests will also be able to experience the intoxicating scent of Christmas baking. Because inside the 'Historical Workshop', 'Ole's Honey Bread' is baked, which is a recipe developed by one of our volunteer beekeepers.<\/p>\n

Finally, ask about the use of honey in baked goods when you taste the bread, as honey has several good properties especially in connection with baked goods.<\/p>\n

And if the delicious scent and a taste test make you want more, you can also bake and decorate your own honey heart for only 20,- according to a very special historical recipe that is almost 130 years old. It is Laura Adeler's recipe from 1893 from the cookbook 'Illustrated Cookbook for City and Country'.<\/p>\n

You can of course take your own baked and decorated honey heart home, and even in a beautiful self-made vendor booth.!<\/em><\/p>\n
