NEW EXHIBITION ‘MOVES INTO’ THE GREEN MUSEUM
THE MOVE is a different kind of ‘raw’ exhibition where visitors are invited to take a look at the first exhibits arriving from the former Danish Museum of Hunting and Forestry as they ‘move into’ the Green Museum.
Two 20-foot containers and a large number of Euro pallets provide the framework for THE MOVE which presents hunting and forestry at the museum for the first time, but the exhibition also tells the story of the work involved in moving more than 20,000 exhibits between from one museum to another. This work has been under way since the Danish Museum of Hunting and Forestry and the Danish Agricultural Museum merged on 1 January 2017.
THE MOVE has been designed to give visitors a taste of what is to come at the Green Museum. THE MOVE is a teaser featuring some of the most interesting, impressive, odd, scary, sweet and thought-provoking objects from the world of hunting and forestry which we are looking forward to showcasing in coming exhibitions.
Stuffed animals, hunting weapons, chainsaws, exciting jars containing animals and plants, tools from the forest and a container full of trophies are just some of the treasures featured in THE MOVE. Royal hunts, beachcombing done by ordinary people, something from the time when Denmark was last inhabited by wolves, rucksacks for poisonous items and probably the museum’s oldest object are included.
Without the use of words, the exhibition shows how we pack and move objects from the old to the new museum: Pallet after pallet is packed with objects that have been carefully secured with cotton tape and plastic cable ties and lined with tissue paper and sheets so that nothing is damaged in transit.
THE MOVE is the first in a number of new exhibitions at the Green Museum that will show how people live and have lived in tune with nature when they go hunting, sowing, harvesting and picking – while always being subject to the vagaries of the great outdoors.
