Knots without ends symbolize life with its eternal change. The number 3, shown here in the design of the knot, had significance for both the Vikings (the 3
worlds Asgard, Midgard and Utgard) and Christians (Father, Son and Holy Spirit).
This facilitated the transition to Christianity.
The motif can be found, among other things, on the Jelling Stone, Denmark's largest stone monument, erected by Harald Bluetooth in Jelling, Jutland/DK.
