Brooch Celtic knots (S509)

450,00 kr.

Description

Item no.: 06-509
30 x 34 mm
The 4 small twists point in different directions. This represents the course of life, for example the cardinal directions, the seasons and the elements (air, water, fire and earth).
The number 3, which is included in each knot, had significance for both the Vikings (the 3 worlds Asgard, Midgard and Utgard) and Christians (Father, Son and Holy Spirit).
That made the conversion easier.
The knots are found, for example, on Jellingstenen/DK.
Celts approx. 600 – 0 BC.
Vikings circa 800 – 1,100 AD.
