The Green Museum is looking for a collection assistant for the conservation department.

Do chainsaws, target books, hunting trophies and old tractors sound like sweet music to your ears? And are you practical and passionate about museum objects, magazines and good collecting practices? Then you might be our new colleague!

We are looking for an independent employee as of February 1, 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter, who can take responsibility for the daily operation of our magazines and help improve the quality of the collections.

About the position

As a collections officer, you will be responsible for the daily management and supervision of the magazines. Your tasks will revolve around handling, reviewing, processing and registering the collections. The position is versatile with both practical tasks and tasks that require professional insight and interest in museum collections.

You will work closely with the conservation manager and other employees in the conservation department on planning and executing tasks, and will also collaborate with the operations manager and inspectors. At the same time, it is important that you thrive on working independently and in a structured manner.

In the coming years, we will have a particular focus on climate conditions and improving existing storage facilities, including major moves and relocations. In addition, we will also focus on digitizing our collections.

Your tasks

  • Daily management of items and magazines.
  • Receiving, freezing, cleaning and placing items on magazines.
  • Registration of objects and museum items (including object photography).
  • Collection review, assessment of items requiring treatment and segregation.
  • Handling of deposits and loans.
  • Object handling and moving, including in connection with exhibitions.
  • Prevention and management of pests and mold in warehouses and on objects.
  • Minor cleaning tasks in magazines and cleaning objects in exhibitions.

Our expectations and priorities

  • About you – qualifications
    • Willing to work with museum collections and handling museum objects, preferably with previous experience.
    • Experienced user of the Office suite and experience with or willingness to learn SARA and other relevant database systems.
    • Driver's license and willing to drive the museum van.
    • Have – or are willing to get – a forklift license.

    You may be a trained historian, archaeologist or conservator with the courage to take on many practical tasks. However, we also welcome applicants with other relevant backgrounds and a keen interest in museum collections.

Salary and employment conditions

Working hours are 37 hours per week. Salary and employment terms are determined in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.

The current place of work is Det Grønne Museum, Randersvej 4, 8963 Auning, but there will also be work at the museum's warehouses in Auning. There will only be limited opportunities for working from home.
